Vivienne Patti Scialfa (born July 29 1953 in Long Branch, New Jersey). Patti has a music degree from New York University and was writing songs from a very early age. She struggled to make her way in the songwriting and recording industry in New York/New Jersey for many years before working with Southside Johnny and David Johansen. In 1986, she appeared on the Rolling Stones Dirty Work album, leaving her unique vocal mark on "One Hit (To the Body)" as well as other tracks. She worked with Keith Richards on his first solo disc Talk is Cheap.

In 1984 she joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. During the 1987 Tunnel of Love tour she fell in love with Springsteen and took a center role in the stage performances. They survived the initial scandal, Bruce was married at the time, and married on June 8 1991. They have three children.

Scialfa has made two solo albums, 1994's Rumbledoll, and 2004's 23rd Street Lullaby. She inspired her husband to write "Red Headed Women".
